Guinness Printed T-shirts & Visiting Our screen Printers

This week the Guinness printed t-shirt competition winners went behind the screens with our production and distribution team. They took a trip to our amazing screen printers in Newbridge, County Kildare. Here they got the chance to watch their custom designs printed!

(Super exciting to see the process)

In case you missed it, (if you did check out our tiktok or previous blog post) the staff at the Guinness Storehouse took part in a company wide competition. The competition was to design new Guinness custom t-shirts. Two lucky winners were chosen. Part one of the prize was getting to pop into our design office. Here the winner could watch our designers bring their illustrations to life on screen. We we’re joined by the two design competition winners, a the retail buyer, a retail store manager and team leader. Part two of their prize was visiting our printing and distribution facility. Here they got to watch the production process, from screen printing their designs and packaging apparel before it is sent to the Guinness Storehouse. Once there, it will be sold as a limited edition product.

A peak at us chatting all things design from their office visit

GUINNESS CUSTOM T-SHIRT COMPETITON WINNERS MEETING WITH OUR DESIGNERS

Guinness Printed T-shirts: Visiting Our Screen Printers

The Storehouse staff spent the morning meeting with our team in Newbridge, learning about the printing process and watching as the screens for their prints were washed and prepared. They then got to watch in real time as each colour was individually added to their chosen t-shirt blank. Layer by layer the design came together and the two winners really enjoyed watching their designs come to life. Our designers could really relate to the excitement of seeing a design you like getting produced! With such a focus on digital content these days, having a piece of physical design work is really special!

Guinness Printed T-shirts: The Tour

Later on in the day, Newbridge staff took the Guinness competition winners on a tour of the building and its different departments. During the tour they got the opportunity to meet and chat with staff from production to warehouse management. They we’re able to peak into rooms where swing tickets and barcodes are added to finished products. They winners got to see the whole production and distribution cycle from design concept to screen printing, packaging and shipping.

Everyone really enjoy this experience

Guinness Printed T-shirts: What’s Next?

That’s it for our participation in this fun competition run by the Guinness Storehouse for their staff. For now the winners will be keeping their eyes peeled for their Guinness printed t-shirts to launch in the Guinness Storehouse shop. (we’ll be watching out too)

Final Thoughts

This experience was a fun change of pace. Getting the chance to go behind the scenes of our screen printing and product distribution process is a rare opportunity. It gave the competition winners a glimpse into something that we don’t normally share. Not only that, but it also gave our own staff a chance to take a look at parts of the process that they often wouldn’t see. Taking part in events like this give us all a more well rounded understanding of what it takes to produce our bespoke apparel collections.
